We have been taking the shoes off most of our riding horses, after a successful summer with many guests both in the highlands and here at home. The sheep round-up went on last week in the mountains and we also took our sheep together here on the meadows at the farm. Dogs and horses helping.  Most of the horses are now grazing and resting in vast pastures, completely free.

Last week was the first riding tour of the season. We went for a 5 days ride with 5 wonderful guests and 16 beautiful horses. Two of the horses were pack horses that carried our clothes and food.

Lambs are born

Our first guests came in April, it was wonderful welcoming them. We welcomed one couple that came to us for their honeymoon. We road with them along side the river and visited a cave where Stefnir plaid the harmonica for them.
We have been working with the young horses all winter but now they get a break and are outside grazing. We will meet them again in June and start again riding them then. They did so well this winter so we are really looking forward starting again riding them in June.
Now we are looking after our sheep that are having their lambs in May. Already 5 lambs are born and a lot more coming. 🙂

The young horses are being adorable. All of them have been outside with a rider on. They are behaving really well, like a dream. We are looking forward having them with us in the riding tours next summer.

Young horses

The Hekluhestar family has 14 young horses inside for the moment that we are working with. They are doing a fantastic job and we are hoping that some of them will be ready to work with us next summer in the riding tours.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. Thank you for a wonderful year and we are looking forward for a new exciting year!
